Nature walk at the beach – Day 27

April 27, 2009

Chers Amis,

Thursday morning Dh took Pippin to ‘downtown’ Tybee Island for a haircut.  He was looking a bit too much like the Shaggy DA. Caddie, Scarlett and I headed down to the jetty for a nature walk.  Caddie was in one of her fixated moods – clutching her net and totally intent on exploring the rocks despite large red letter signs warning “STAY OFF ROCK- DANGEROUS CURRENTS.”  I was very relieved that it was low tide and there were NO currents around the rocks because when Caddie sets her mind on something no signs can restrain her and her net. I didn’t even try as she flung her sweater and bags down on the sand and capered over the stones in search of – whatever she could find.  Scarlett is equally interested but much more diplomatic and open to RED LETTER threats. She at least surveyed the scene before embarking.

I’ve just uploaded a very few pix. There were starfish clinging to the rocks partout, but we particularly liked this fellow as we obviously interrupted the end of his brunch. I wish I had had a penny in my pocket to place next to the miniature hermit crab for scale; his shell was only @ 1/2 inch in length. So dainty.  I had visions of Pagoo trying on all types of new abodes. Lastly, is Caddie trying to do her best pelican impression to ease closer, ever closer.  I will share more resources and pictures later.  I still have a sandy car, dog waiting to be picked up from boarding, and dinner to invent.

Tybee was really lovely. I would highly recommend it as a destination from Atlanta for those who just want a quiet get away.
