Bumble – Day 7

April 7, 2009

Chers Amis,

The sun may be shining on and off, but it is still darn cold in Atlanta today. Chilly enough that I am going to stay inside until the temperature rises above 40. So for Day 7 of April Showers, I am going to cheat a bit. I actually took this picture Saturday afternoon while waiting for Mr. Toad to emerge from the back of his hole enough for me to take a shot. The problem was that his hole was at the base of this azalea bush and the carpenter bees buzzing about hungrily were less than enamored by my presence. They decided to bombard me en masse! Luckily, carpenter bees do not sting unless caught and squeezed (ask Caddie) so I maintained my position lying in wait for my quarry, Mr. Toad. This bumbler had decided he needed to take a drink before his next strafing attack, so I snapped a quick shot.

Wow! I think I can see the pollen dusting him! Great shot.
