Chers Amis,

Here is my third contribution to the April Showers Photo Challenge. I haven’t decided on any firm theme, but this week has presented itself in the macro range of my camera and in the ‘brown’ color spectrum. This is not an exciting shot, but I love the look and texture of the rough umber bark coated with pale, green-grey foliose lichen lighting on the verdant velvet. Our little ‘moulin’ is set on two tangled, shady acres of woods so it is covered with mosses and lichens and I adore them all in their myriad variations on a symbiotic theme.

PS –  I should add that moss and lichen are not symbiotic, rather lichen is formed by a symbiotic relationship between algae and fungi
