Pilgrim Queen of the family

December 12, 2007

“Listen. Put it into your heart, my smallest and dearest
son, the things
frightened you, the  things that afflicted you are nothing: do
not let them disturb you… Am I not here, I,
who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow
and protection? Am I not the source of your joy?
Are you not in the hollow of my
mantle, in the crossing of my arms?”

(Nican Mopohua, Nos. 120-121)

Chers Amis,

On this Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, I wanted to share a beautiful way for your family to support vocations  and foster a love of the Church through the praying rosary.  Pilgrim Queen of the family is a  family devotion whose purpose is to  promote families praying the rosary and support vocations.  It is similar to the Elijah cup in that an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in a small table-top shrine visits the homes of 5-10 participating families.  While she is visiting, the family places the shrine in a prominent place in their home and commits themselves to pray the Holy Rosary together as a family, to pray for vocations, the Pope, the family and the Church.  After a predetermined length of time (from 3-7 days) the shrine is passed to the next family  in the circle and Our Lady continues her pilgrimage.

The only cost is the purchase of one shrine per group which can be divided among the families (@$5/family) or the organizer can purchase the shrine personally.  "Family that prays together stays together."   (John Paul II, Rosarium Virginis Mariae) Isn’t that a good reason to put together a few families from your parish, Little Flowers/Blue Knights, boy or girl scouts, co-op, or homeschool group to invite the Pilgrim Queen to your homes?   Several of my friends put together a small group of families to
participate in this devotion last year and they have loved it so much we’ve decided to start another group. If you are local (Hi, ladies 🙂  and interested in joining us, just let me know.  If not, start your own group as a beautiful New Year’s Resolution!

PS – Here is a link for more specifics.

There is no
more effective means to attract the blessings of God on
the families, than the prayer of the Holy Rosary".

(Pope Pius XII)
